Accessing our services – update Dec 2021

Dear patients,

We have changed the way we book our appointments in response to the latest Government guidance on COVID-19, offering a range of ways for you to safely get the help and support you need. We are open and continuing to care for our patients.

Patients who request an appointment will be assessed by telephone or online, and a clinician will determine how best to meet your care needs. You will be offered a face-to-face appointment if it is essential for you to be seen, or a video appointment if appropriate.

The fastest way to access our services is generally via our Dr. iQ app. If you do not need to come into the surgery, you will be given appropriate self-care advice, treatment or information on what to do if you become more unwell.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this time of unprecedented levels of demand on NHS services. Please treat our staff with dignity and respect.

Important Notice for Springfield Medical Centre Patients

Springfield Medical Centre has now merged with The Practice St Alban’s and Nirmala. The Practice St Alban’s is located less than 500 meters from Springfield and, to make this change as easy as possible, all of Springfield’s patients have been automatically transferred to our practice unless alternative requests have been made. Please note calls are not currently being diverted from the Springfield telephone number. If you would like to speak to someone at The Practice St Alban’s please call us on 0115 927 3444.

Our team developed Dr. iQ to give you faster, easier access to the surgery. Download Dr. iQ to skip the queue and avoid ringing the practice.

We have teams of highly trained clinicians who will respond to your request made via Dr .iQ, offering you convenient and enhanced access.

We respond to all queries within one working day, usually on the same day and often within a couple of hours depending on the time of day.

If necessary, our clinicians can initiate a live conversation with you via the messaging feature in the app, arrange an immediate telephone or video consultation or book you in for a face-to-face assessment if deemed necessary.

People who are unable to use this service are still able to access the practice in the normal way.

I am used to using SystmOnline to order my repeat medication, view my medical records and to book appointments. Can I still access this?

SystmOnline is still available to patients to use in the same way.

However, you can also order your repeat medication using the Dr. iQ app. The first time you need to request your repeat medication on Dr. iQ, you will be required to enter your medication details, this will then be saved for future use.

The fastest way to access our GP services is generally via our Dr. iQ app. You will be offered a face-to-face appointment if it is essential for you to be seen, or a telephone or video appointment if appropriate. If you do not need to come into the surgery, you will be given appropriate self-care advice, treatment or information on what to do if you become more unwell.

Your medical record will also be available on the Dr. iQ app in 2022, when Dr. iQ integrates with our clinical system. For now, you can continue to use SystmOnline to view your medical record.
